The Garden Journal launched by members of the Santa Fe Extension Master Gardeners in October, 2013, and has been airing programs weekly on KSFR.org ever since. The program was conceived as a way to reach a wider audience with information about backyard gardening in Santa Fe County. Along the way we have partnered with other community organizations, including the Santa Fe Botanical Garden, the Santa Fe Farmers Market Institute, Home Grown New Mexico, and most recently, Slow Food Santa Fe.

Together our rotating crop of community partners and their hosts provide both a broad overview and get into the weeds of how to garden successfully in our difficult climate, how to feed yourself by growing fruits and vegetables, experts and books that will expand your horticulture and environmental horizon, techniques for enriching the soil and preserving our precious water, and native plants that support our plant pollinator species and nourish the birds that rely on them.

Live broadcast from the Santa Fe Farmers Market. From left, KSFR engineer, Nick Ianopolous, co-hosts Bob Zimmerman and Christine Salem.
